Benefits of Going to College

Most high school graduates go to college today, whereas years back it wasn't the common thing to do. Going to college seems like it's just the common thing to do these days. There are still people who don't go to college after they graduate from high school, but a majority of students do go to college for many different reasons. To get a better education so they can get a better job, to get a job they can truly enjoy, to make more money than others who just get a job after high school, or even to get the whole college experience. No matter what, people should go to college for these reasons, and any other reason that they believe in, because it can make your life so much better. I believe that high school graduates should choose college over getting a job after high school, and I even believe that people who didn't go to college when they graduated should still take the chance and go to

One of the main reasons that people go to college is to get a better education, because a better education can help you get a better job. If you apply for a job and you have more education than others that apply for the job, you are more likely to get the job because you have the education, and you deserve it because you have that better education. Also, there are jobs that require you to have further education than a GED, because the job requires you to have more skills that can only be learned by college education. Whether you go to a four year university or a two year community college, it doesn't make a difference, all that matters is that you have the education to get a better job, and really do something you love to do. You go to college to learn the things you love learning about, things that interest us. Then you get educated in that field and get a job that you love.

In addition to that, people should go to college because they will be able to get a job that they truly enjoy. Most people these days have jobs that they hate going to, they complain about them all the time, and it makes them a crabby and unhappy person. My dad for example didn't go to college; he works at Menards Distribution Center, and although the pay isn't terrible, he hates going to work every day. He wishes that he would have gone to college like I am doing right now. He tells me he's jealous that I'm going to college and wishes he could go back and change things. People who go to college can get the satisfaction of wanting to go to work every day, enjoying what they do, and no matter what the salary is they get the satisfaction that they qualify for the job and others don't because they don't have the education. They will have the opportunity to know what they are getting themselves into by going to college, getting internships, and job shadowing. They will be able to look into the careers they see themselves pursing by going to college, and learning things about what they want to

Along with loving your job, going to college can also increase your chances of getting a job with a higher paying salary. Although some jobs such as teaching have lower salaries, it's the fact that you love it that counts the most. Then the pay doesn't matter. Teachers can have higher salaries; it just depends on where they work. Others, who are not teachers, are able to get jobs they enjoy and have higher salaries. The fact that you have a college degree enables you to receive a better salary, even if the job may not require that much education; so going to college does pay off in the long run.

Along with the above, college is also a chance to explore what you want to do in life. You can take elective classes to get the feel of different areas and careers. You don't have to go to college knowing what you want to do, you can explore first, and there are academic advisors there to help you. Rather than just saying, "I'm not going to college because I don't know what I want to do with my life," take the chance and go to college to explore what you want to do with your life. It will be better for you in the long run, because you won't end up in some out of high school job with a crummy salary for the rest of your life. College gives you a sense of accomplishment; you will become more knowledgeable than others, in most areas, specifically in your major area of study. It's just another way to avoid going out into the real world where you can't make as many mistakes, because it will really matter. In college, obviously you can't make all the mistakes in the world, but it's a lot easier to fix a mistake, because you're not quite in the real world yet. Going to college is a good opportunity to explore the things you may possibly want to do with your life, because it can make a

And finally, the best of all, the whole college experience itself is another reason people should go to college. When you go to college you get to live in a dorm with a roommate, it's like a permanent sleepover. You get the opportunity to meet lots of new people and make lots of friends. Some friends you make will be ones that you are friends for the rest of your life, and some friends will not. You get to experience life away from home before you're actually out on your own. When you get homesick you can also just go home. Going to college is like a transition to the real world. Although you have to go to class, write papers, do homework, take tests, quizzes, and finals; it's really the whole experience that counts. Some classes you will like too, because it will be what you are planning on pursuing in the future. You're out on your own, away from mom and dad, doing whatever you want, whenever you want. You get to stay out late, there is no curfew, and there are plenty of parties. You get to experience life out on your own. You make the decisions on your own; even if it means choosing whether or not you want to go to class. Although, you may want to try and keep your grades up so they think you are responsible to be on your own, because college is a way to prove to your parents that you are a responsible individual and you can handle things on your own. You get the chance to prove to them that you can make the right decisions and become the best person that you can be, even if it means making some mistakes along the way. College is an experience of life all in itself. I think everyone deserves the chance to experience college, and you even get the opportunity of learning along the

College is something you don't want to miss out on. It's definitely a great experience even with the learning part. Things may get stressful in college, but that's a part of life. I definitely recommend it, especially if you don't know what you want to do with your life, because college is a good place to figure it out. And for those of you who do know what you want to do with your life, it's even better, because you can start working toward your degree right away. Getting a better education can do you a whole world of wonders; it leads to a better job, a better paying salary, a job you love to go to every day, and the experience all in itself. College is beneficial for many reasons, but maybe you even have your own reasons for choosing college.
